Does it get worse as you get older?

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with gout after a series of attacks I put down to a hiking injury. Sadly Im only 22 so Id imagine borderline alcoholism and bad diet are the cause and Ive managed to cut both down however despite this after a few days partying with friends I get the familiar soreness that becomes stabbing pain in my big toe.
So my question is does it get worse as you get older, if a moderate to heavy weekend away with friends triggers a gout attack now how bad will it be in the future, does your suseptability become worse at you get older?

Yes.
More recurrent attacks and longer ones, also new joints will be affected, simultaneous joint attacks and finally there could be joint damage.
Advice: see a specialist if he detects very high uric acid levels he may put you on a special diet and uricosuric medicines.
