I am a 47yr old man who started having gout issues at age 30. It mostly came up when I bought some new shoes or change in weather. I did it all, doctors help, herb meds etc all and other than pain relief they didnt stop it from re occuring months later.

One day I was at the casino table in shreveport la when the lady dealer saw me limping with my swollen tore lol. I told her it was gout and she told me that her grand pa had the same problem and he found out that it was something he was eating that did not agree with him. For him it was black pepper so I needed to do the same. I soon found out that the last two gouts came about after eating canned pork and beans. I have been gout free now for 3years. All I ask is that each person with gout try to recall something that you ate the day before the gout kicked in and if you see a pattern, thats the food you need to avoid. Hope this helps somebody.

My first attack was brought on by one of those "Hungry Man" frozen dinners, or so I suspect. I'm not sure which of the bajillion ingredients in it caused my uric levels to spike, but spike they did!
Also, I have noticed that any type of hot dogs cause flare ups.
I'm starting to think that foods with preservatives somehow can increase uric levels, so I am trying to eat more fresh foods and using things like rice for my starches. Good white, non-oily, broiled fish fillets seems to help for protein as well.
Good luck!
