Firat I should explain that I have suffered gout for 10 yrs nearly and unfortunately I am allergic to allopurinol, colchicine gives me real bad toilet trouble and I have also a heart problem so many of the other 'cures' areunsuitable. suffered a particularly bad dose 6 weeks ago and the doc gave me some prednisolone which worked very well. Yestrday I started another attack so took some more and again this morning. I was still screaming in pain at 12.30 today, climbing the walls as you know, I am sure.
Got the m-i-l to go to the pharmacy for some EPSOM SALTS, as I had read it worked in reducing the swelling. Made a footbath, 20 mins in warmish water with 3 tablspoons of the stuff and OMG the swelling and pain are nearly gone could almost feel the swelling go down and can more or less walk ok now.
I am so releived, I hate it when I cannot sleep and pain is so intense I could cry.
Cant say it will work for everyone, but thank the Lord it has worked for me.:)

OMG stands for Oh My God ! I have just had my foot in soaking in concentrated epson salts for an hour, and I have to say, although the pain has not gone, it is drastically reduced, and I can at least move about now. I have also got some Cherry Concentrate which I have 2 wacks off. My partner went into Holland and Barrett (in the UK) a health food shop, and the lady manager knew exactly what I needed. After 2 days at least I have some relieve from most of the pain, hopefully I will get some sleep tonight.

So on the 3rd day, I have just managed to get out for a short hobble about, this time yesterday no way would i have thought i could manage it. Intense pain has gone, but It still gives me a "stab" as I walk.
Swelling is still apparent. So for now its plenty of water, regular doses of my Cherry concentrate (watered down with more water) I am fighting back. This is my first gout attack, and I dont want to go through this again, its going to be diet change, loss of wieght, and less alcohol. I did also have my first good nights sleep last night since the attack began (what a relief)

Day 4 keeping up with the cherry concentrate, watered down with my increased water intake. Swelling well down, pain when not walking gone, foot still stiff though cannot walk without a limp (foot gives me stab of pain ) but its not one third as bad a stab as previous which kept me from walking. I have had quite a longish walk today (well limp/hobble) sat down when I needed it. Had to take paracetamol last night when I got in bed pain kicked in. But the good news is had 2 great nights sleep hopefully I am well on my way to mending after my first gout attack. I intend to take all the measures I can to make sure this dont happen again. :)
