I would just like to pass along my story quickly in hopes that it helps others. I am 48 and have had gout since I was 18.
Early in life the attacks were once or twice a year but as I go older, the last ten years the grew out of control. I tried everything but nothing worked. Allopurinol was very hard for me to take. Colchcine works but is so bad for you and it's side effects are rough.
Only us who deal with gout can ever understand the degree of pain. It just can become overwhelming.
Well two years ago the attacks were several a month. I would call them cluster attacks. Knee, foot elbow. My quality of life was very low. My uric acid level was always over 12. Then Uloric became available in the us. I was the first in my area to take it. First 40mg then 80.
A miracle drug is an understatement. Yes it made for more attacks but you don't have to stop taking the drug. My uric acid level drop to below 7 almost overnight.
Here is where the nightmare began. Three months after beginning the drug my kidneys began failing. I had no history of kidney problems before. My GFR kept falling. Dr. Said I had stage 3 kidney failure and it would only get worse.
After thinking my life was going to be shorted and would need dialysis I came up with an hypothesis, what is the sudden and huge drop in uric acid was sending vast amount of crystals into my blood and was damaging the kidneys. All my doctors agreed it was a long shot but advised I go off Uloric. Even faced with kidney failure I refused to give up on Uloric. I would take the risk vs going back to gout.
One year later my kidneys are 100percent normal and my uric acid is 4.
So, that is my story, I love Uloric but keep on eye on your kidneys.

There is a far better remedy for gout. yes those medicines might cure your gout attack but they wreak havoc on the rest of your body. i.e. kidneys, liver, pancreas, etc.. here in hawaii gout is like a common cold. 2 out of every 5 people might have gout. all due to the foods we eat. well i was introduced to Kyani about 2 years ago and it has done wonders for not only my attacks but my brother in law as well. i have not had a gout attack since being on this product.
my intent is not to try and sell anything here, but i am against prescription medication. Big Pharma is a mulit-trillion dollar business and they don't care what medicine does to people as long as it is making them money. that is why they always have that fine print. it's like take this for your cold but if you start going blind then stop. hahaha. if any of you are interested in even trying these products let me know and i will introduce you to the lady that brought this to me.
much aloha

What is Kyani? I'd like to try and manage my gout without medications but I haven't been able to. Can you please explain this to me?

I would like to tell you my story, I am 26 years old and have been gout sufferer for 2 years, first in my ankle and then in the knee, the last was it for me, I didn't want to experience another one of those, it practically left me on bed about three weeks and I suffered the consequences for 2 months. I was confused because in all sites that I have been they mentioned meat, and alcohol, and fish. but I was not a big meat eater, or drank alcohol at all, or fish, or any of the stuff everyone said to stay away from. So what was causing my gout? I learned that sugar/High Fructose corn syrup actually is worse than any protein you can take. it might seem surprising but that's the truth. Anyways when I went to the doctor he prescribed uloric he said it was a good drug, and I had to take it for life first 40mg, then 80 and then who knows. I don't know about you but I was not ready for that. So I looked and looked for alternatives and I found what I call a true blessing, I found a regimen that will get rid of your disease, using natural plants. I have done the regimen for 3 weeks and I have never been better overall, it is hard to do, I won't lie but after I suffered the knee attack I was ready to try any alternative.
Video to watch ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM) especially the stuff on gout, sugar, and fructose
If you are ready to get rid of the disease let me know and I will give you the regimen, I am doing.
I am not a doctor, I am just a person suffering from gout that found an alternative that works for me. thanks.

People who develop gout at age 18 are likely to also have hemochromatosis, lead poisining, etc, which should also be treated.

My allopurinol regimen has not been working and I have been thinking of switching to Uloric? Have many people tried it? I was just reading an article about uloric and might ask my doctor. http://www.mednewsbuzz.com/race-and-ethnicity-do-not-impact-treatment-outcomes-in-large-gout-study/
