One of the no eat for people with gout is red meat but I also see that lean meat is allowed. So are meats like round steak, london broil, and such have little purine?
Or can one eat meat but don't eat it rare or medium rare.
thanks

Hi there
Purines are a part of DNA, and as such are present in most proteins, such as meat. Red meat is higher in purine than other meats.
You have possibly read about lean meat in the context of gout and obesity. Overweight people are much more likely to get gout than those who are at a "healthy" weight. So lean meat is better than fatty meat.
Not being from your part of the world I'm not entirely sure what London Broil is. So I can't comment specifically on that.
I don't think how you cook the meat will make much difference. The meat still contains purines, excess amounts of which are broken down into uric acid in the body. So the purines are still there whether the meat is rare or well done.
