Type of Doctor?

Hi. I'm new to the thread.

Do you go to a specialist such as a rheumatologist, or does your normal G.P. take care of your gout? My doctor has been less than helpful so far. Thinking of going to a specialist.

I go to a regular doctor he has help me.

I had some problems initially with a locum who missed my gout. I spent several months seeing an orthopaedic specialist and a podiatrist until my own doctor worked out it was gout.

I don't think there is much a rheumatologist will do that is different to what a plain old doctor will do. Gout's a fairly straightforward thing.
