I have been on allopurinol for 2 years and it certainly has helped. The past 2 months I quit taking colchicine. About 5 weeks ago I developed a throbbing accompanied by terrible pain in my feet and cannot attribute this to not taking the colchicine. My toes on both feet started to become stiff whenever this pain develops. I started to walk over 2 miles every other day and this walk does have some hills so my toes stretch out. I have noticed that my toes become more limber and the pain I have been having ceases. No more sudden throbs. My toes and underneath my toes to the ball of my foot doesn't feel like it has water in there and doesn't have the swollen feeling.

What is the scientific explanation for this? Is this still the after effects of gout? Once in awhile I will eat gouty foods like red meat and scallops and I do feel some uncomfortableness but if I walk I do not have this problem.

Thank You.

Why does it takes days to get responses to posts? Noticed this with mine and others.
