Are all fish off limits for people who suffer from gout?
I have seen discrepancies of what fish is good and what fish is bad.
Is it just seafood like flounder or freshwater fish like trout.
I am confused and don't want to resign myself to eating
vegetables and nuts the rest of my life.

Im on the same boat as you are. I eat the occasional fish to satisfy my meat cravings and protein intake, but at the same time am scared that it will lead to another attack. Information on this is also very dodgy, with some places saying that the fatty acids in some fish is beneficial for gout, to other places that say to eliminate fish all together considering that its a seafood meat product also. I've also heard different doctors saying different things.
Also I have read that the way foods are prepared plays an important role in how much purines it contains. For example raw fish ala Sashimi or sushi contains more purines compared to its cooked counter parts, which makes me want to cry as I love to eat raw fish!
Soooooo hopefully someone with more insight and knowledge can shed some info on this.
