Jan.1 2000 was my first Gout attack of my left great toe. This attack happened while I was at work. I went to the emergency room and they told me that I had Gout. I was shocked. They treated me with Colchine, and within 24 hrs my gout pain was gone. I went see my Doctor and he prescibed allopurinol 100 mg for the rest of my life. Well! in 2009 I stopped taking the medicine. That was a big mistake. Because, on May 17, 2011, I had one of the worst gout attacks that affected my left ankle and left greater toe. The pain was so bad that I could not walk, work, or sleep. This attack is still affecting me today May 26, 2011. The symptoms are just starting to subside. I learned my lesson that I will nerver stop taking my Gout medicine again just because I thought I would never get another attack again.
