Found this forum looking for gout help online. I will give you my story and see if I can find help and people with similar situation here.
I first started having problems with my feet around 1997, worked construction then and though I might have injured myself and that was the cause of my pain. Then it began happening more often until it became a problem. Feet swelled and at one point the side of my fat toe at the joint swelled so much it ruptured.
Fast forward to 2011... I have suffered with foot, knee and some times hand pain for a long time. I have been to several doctors who have so far each given me different opinions. One has diagnosed me with arthritis RH negative, others poliarthritis, gout, etc. etc.
I have had fluid pulled from my knee and had no crystals, one other time 2 years ago after a mayor attack I did have crystals. My uric acid has gone anywhere from normal to 14. And it seems attacks have no corralation at times wether my uric acid levels are high or not.
So now I have constant foot pain, it is difficult to walk( or stand) at times and because of this I have gained alot of weight and am at 330lbs now. Doctors always tell me I need to walk, and loose the weight but its like the dog that bites its tail. I cant walk so I gain weight and I gain weight because I cant walk. This pain although worse now, I also had when I was thin 220lbs.
I take voltaren retard 200mg a day which is the only thing that seems to help.
So to resume, have constant foot pain, not swollen. Have gained alot of weight in the past 2 years because of not walking. It seems some food have an effect on me like sausages, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, ibuprofen and some other things that if I eat seems to make the pain worse. The ibuprofen I found out because I had an infection and was given ibuprofen into vein and it triggered an attack that all my joints where swollen, red and painfull. This is when crystals where pulled from my knee and also when I left hospital is when I started gaining weight and going downhill. And the other day I had back pain and the doctor gave me ibuprofen injections and similar happened.
So I will be reading this site and hope to find help as I cant take this anymore. Loosing out on everything.:(
