I figured I would share this with y'all 'cause I know what real suffering is like. After going all last winter with excruciating gout, to the point where I just wanted to die because I was so depressed,I can declare myself gout free. Last January, I started on Allopurinol,300mg daily. At first the flares were even worse, but Colchicine,Indocin, or prednisone took care of that. By April, I was getting little mini-attacks, not to severe, but at the first twinge I would pop Colchicine for a couple days & it would be gone. At night, I could actually feel the Allo breaking up the crystals in my joints;felt like little ants were walking around inside my legs, and sometimes it was hard to sleep. By the ned of May--No more gout! I couls actually move the big toe of my right foot for the first time in 15 years! I would expect my bi-weekly attack, but they stopped coming. Went all summer without so much as a twinge. I eat what I want,in moderation, and take an occasional drink of booze.but avoid the real trouble foods, like scallops, steak, and beer. Last week, my buddy was drinking a beer & it looked so good, and was so hot out, that I said "hell with it;gimme one"! I drank the beer;no problems. Ate a Whopper;no problems. My next trip out, I'm gonna try a Cheeseburger. My dr. said that the problem with Allo is that at first it brings on attacks as it's breaking up the crystals in your joint, and the attacks are so severe, that many people lose patience with the drug & stop it after a few weeks. It took 3 months for the Allo to work with me. Forget the holistic & natural junk;that stuff doesn't work. Stick with the Allo through the worst & you will be happy you did.
